Vacation in the city

Last week, as mentioned on Saute Away, I headed to DC for a week of work and fun! I had a poster presentation Tuesday afternoon that brought me to town. I thought we had a good little paper and our presentation went well! Woo hoo for Jersey and Bell!

Other highlights of the week included several amazing meals and some tourist fun! We did a capitol tour as well as checking out the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the White House. We also were able to score tix for the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit at the National Geographic.
Saturday we had a day of play in the city. Kate introduced me to Hell's Kitchen and the Eastern Market. I love farmers markets!!! That evening we got our fancy on and we went to see the Capitol Steps. I nearly died - they were hi-l-ar-ious. They take the news, make it funny, make it rhyme, and sing it! The whole weekend was fun like that and it was great to see Kate and be a tourist!

Where am I?

You would think Fox Lake since the dog is able to sit on the ice in the baby pool. WRONG. Guess again.

2010 Food Challenge

A small change is in store for Sunshine and Sarah. Rather than clouding up the sunshine with 100+ cooking blogs, i've started a second blog focusing on my Cooking Challenge. You can find the challenge and all of our Cooking with Sarah Segments at Saute Away. Feel free to follow me on both blogs!

Happy New Year!

My NYE was spent with friends in a Vicksburg style night in -- and I couldn't have asked for more. It was uber fun, the food was fab and the drinks were flowing! I'm glad we all decided to step up our game and get together.

New years day was spent in a more traditional way, watching the Tournament of Roses Parade and relaxing.

I have several goals for 2010. Some are secret. Some, not so much. I'm calling them goals rather than resolutions.
1. I've joined a gym and intend to train for a few races. I hope to do at least 3 this year.
2. I have joined the 2010 recipe challenge in which i will make (and share) 100 recipes in 2010. They may be made up or stolen from someone else, but it will be the first time i've made any of them. Several of us are participating in the challenge and I encourage you to as well. We are all making the effort to make said recipes healthy in the spirit of a fit 2010.
3. Speaking of fit, I intend to lose a certain amount of weight this year
4. Secret goal #1
5. Secret goal # 2 that is a rollover from 2009 with reduced expectations.
6. Finish repainting the house and make some headway on a few other fix ups that I've been itching to do.

Cat Burgling

She felt like thuging it up to fit in with our neighbors.

Cousins Christmas

Whilst in IL we had an old fashioned Jersey-Seng cousins Christmas party. We haven't had one of those parties in ages -- maybe since I was in H.S. I'm thinking the last time I saw Shari was in '97. Unfortunately Snow Miser was against us and brought many inches of snow to the greater Chicagoland area. Only a few cousins made it -- here is our documentation! It was great to catch up with Shari, Aunt Arlene and Uncle Steve, and Aunt Barb and Uncle Bob. Hopefully we can do this again soon peeps.
