Project Runway.. and my Return

Ok, so I've been a really lazy blogger. I've been working on the house and reading for book clubs and traveling and trying to get caught up at work, among other things. Instead of trying to catch up on what has happened lately, let me just pretend it never happend.

So I am loving the fact that Project Runway has returned. I claim to abhorr reality TV, but I heart this show! It is so funny! Wednesday night I went to Book Club and then caught the Olympics and watched Walsh and May bring home the gold. I didn't realize it - but I had missed my precous Project Runway. Last night I caught the re-run. OMG. It was fabulous. Drag Queens. Need I say more? They were absolutely fantabulous. It sort of reminded me of last season's wrestling episode. Most of the time they get called out for being too dramatic - but this week was the oppertunity to show their inner sparkle!

I loved the Pink Sailor Outfit and the Red Flame Dress that made the final 3. They were awesome and sparkley!

I particularly enjoyed Tim's description of Blayne's design as a crazy gay Jurasic Park pterodactyl. I really don't understand how Blayne is still on the show? And licious makes me vmoit. I can't say I really got the Japanese Kimono Outfit.
It was an all together enjoyable episode. Seriously over the top and seriously had me laughing all night long!!!!!

Sister Christian, you are motoring

Wednesday night was the much anticipated Project Runway season finale. I was sucked into this show this season, having never really watched it. The finale was down to Christian, Rami, and Jillian.

I really didn’t care who won, as long as it wasn’t Rami. He makes beautiful clothes, but they all seem to be the same clothes – and they all involve draping. This week he brought ought the mini blinds – some slightly different clothes. I liked his weaving, and a couple of his dresses were gorgeous, although the models seemed to have trouble wearing them. However, I don’t understand why he was on a show for discovering new talent – he had already been discovered and was making fancy dresses for society women including Jessica Alba. I totally agreed with Michael Kohrs – Rami has no understanding of color. He always picks a color that is just two shades the wrong side of ugly.

I loved Jillian’s outfits. They were smart and cute. She seems to be one of those HM people who stresses about things. That is cool. She might need some therapy to figure out how to get through these things. Otherwise, her stuff was awesome and I wish she had won. Her outfits looked fashionable, but they would translate to things that you or I could wear. That was probably her downfall – they have thrown people off of the show for being too wearable, and I think she got busted on that one. They said her line was lacking continuity – I think it might have been slightly so, but the line needs to not be the same thing repeated again and again. That doesn’t sell.

Sister Christian, what can I say, I knew from near the start that you would be the winner. You ARE motoring! He may have had lots of skinny pants and jackets, and the line was all in black and white shades, but it was fierce. Really, it was. I loved it. I wish I were 6-5 and weighed 112 pounds and had somewhere fashionable to wear that crap. It totally wouldn’t go down when I’m working in the field, but damn it was fierce!! You totally deserved the win, just for creating those pieces in a room the size of my bathroom. Way to go. I don’t know that you will actually sell anything on bluefly.com, but best of luck to you buddy,

TV, to have or to have not...

Last night I got to watch my new fave, Project Runway. This was an episode to end all episodes. There really wasn't that much fashion involved in last night. It was a hurdle made to amuse the viewing public rather than a real fashion test... The topic: design an outfit for a woman from the WWE Raw. Definitely an interesting task. A few comments I have to make. 1. What was Christian thiking when he said the mystery room had sex sounds coming from it - everyone else said it souned like fighting. I really don't want to know. 2. Best. Line. Ever. Michael Kors: "I feel like I'm the pope at a sex party" I nearly died. 3. Please tell me that these desingers did NOT complain about having to design for these women with curves. 4. I LOVE that they went shopping at the Spandex House. so trash-tastic 5. I wish I had a body like that!!!! I would dress like striperella too!!

THis week I loved the outifs by Chris March, Christian, and Jillian. I love Christian's outfits, but I can see just as much continuity in his outfits as I can see in Rami's outfits from episode to episdoe. I just happen to enjoy his stereotypical look more than Rami's look. Speaking of Rami, his look was hideous this week. When I initially saw him draping that hideous pink fabric I started yelling at my tv. I seriously would like to see him kicked off just because he is unable to peek outside his comfort zone.

I would also like to make some commentar on TV in general. I keep hearing rumors that the Writers GUild is going to settle. Honestly, I'm Ok either way. I make lots of claims of not needing TV and being abe to do without. This strike has shown me that it is true. I really could do without most of the fiction on TV. I probably could give it up. Mybe one day I really will turn off the directv. I would miss all of the educational TV that I watch, and I would miss the XM radio that I listen to when nothing is on TV. It keeps me up with new music. I would probably miss the news channels as I have been strangely drawn to the election this year. Otherwise, I could do without. I miss my stories, but I am doing just fine without them. A good book is 1000 times better than a tv show anyways. The writers guild is trying to get more money, but they ahve shown me that they really don't need my money.

Finally, yesterday I got a hair cut. To use Christian's words, it is FIERCE. I LOVE my haircut. I don'tknow the last time I felt this cut. Major Kudos to Kristie for making me look beautiful. It is much shorter than it has been for a long time. The blonde is chunky and gorgeous. (Yes BOB, my hair is CHUNKY). I keep saying that expensive haircuts aren't in the budget, but considering how great tey make me feel, I need to cut the cable so I can keep the haircuts. The picture isn't great since it is a "self-portrait", but you can get an idea of the hair from it. I look like a fool because I'm busy laughing at the mud wrestling puppies.

Denim its Da Norm

For most of us, Denim is pretty much a staple of our everyday lives. Last nights pRoject Runway Challenge involved the designers being told to take some Levi's 501's and do something "Iconic" with them.
I have to admit, Project Runway is my new favorite show. I hate that it is reality and that I like it - but I just do. I enjoyed last night's episode since it had all the requisites: stress, ugly clothes, and pretty clothes.
I have to say, i'm not sure that i really know what Iconic means in terms of fashion, but i didn't think that Ricky's dress was iconic. It was a bit short. I did like the button usage - which i think is what made it win. Nothing says 501's like the button fly.
I liked a bunch of the designs though. I really enjoyed Christians. To me, it was iconic - it actually spoke to me. i looked at it and got a wow factor - it was a look. Most of the rest of the stuff didn't have that shot. I also really liked Sweet Pea's outfit. That dress was just plain old cute! I would totally wear it. The fact that I would totally wear it was probably what made it an "unwinable" dress. One look at two Jackets and I knew that Jillian and Victorya were out. I'm glad Victorya was out - her "trench jacket" was really hideous. Jillians wasn't that good - but I could at least tell that she had put some work into. I felt like I could have done Victorya's!
