U2 360 Concert

Last week we went to the U2 concert with our friends Beth and G - it was AWESOME.  We all had a great time, some more than others.  It was a particularly fitting concert for us since the first conversation David and I had involved us discussing U2 and which albums/songs we liked best.

The Countdown is ON!

On Friday July 22 David proposed!  We've set the date for April 21, 2012 in Pittsburgh and the countdown is on!We're pretty psyched and I think our families seem pretty happy with the choice too.  Can't wait to celebrate the big day -- I have a feeling the next few months will fly.

Mississippi

So my renters broke the lease, which meant taking a trip down to check on my house and start getting it ready to sell.  Two great things came of this -- 1.  getting to see a handful of folks from down there, including my bff Amanda.  2.  A trip to Home Depot.

Only in Mississippi

Big Springs

Last week i went to Piedmont, MO to visit Clearwater Lake for work.  While in the area we took a trip to see the 'Big Springs' one night after dinner.  These springs were absolutely awesome.  They are the biggest ones in the Ozark Plateau.  The engineers and geologists i was with all enjoyed these -- go figure.  here are a few of my spectacular photos from the field trip.

Big News in the Bug(h)'s

Big News No. 1 - for those who haven't heard, is in the 'Burg.  The renters broke their lease.  I've decided to try to break the ties that bind one more time and am in the process of getting the house ready to sell once again.  hopefully this time it takes.  HR sort of screwed me over last time with not processing my paperwork until after 1st time home buyers ended -- and NO ONE was buying at that time.  The market is slow, but hopefully it'll move.

Big News No. 2 - is in the 'Burgh.  I'm deploying to help with the missouri river flood fight for the month of August -- so it will definitely be slow times on the blog.  I think this will be an amazing learning experience and it will definitely help my career in several ways.  The best learning comes in the field, so this will be great.  I'm not too excited about leaving home for a month; however, it is only a month and it isn't a country in the middle east so I consider it a win.

speaking of slow times on the blog.  I have a bunch to upload but my computer appears to be dying, so we'll see if it makes it up before the big trip to the Mighty Mo.

If you're the praying type, I ask for your prayers on both of these endeavors.  If not, just wish me luck.

Geocaching on the Montour

The last few weekends we've headed over to the Montour Trail for some geocaching fun.  The Montour is part of the rails to trails program.  I really dig this program - and the plethora of trails in the area as a result.  The Montour will eventually be about 50 miles long.  I think one of my new goals is going to be to eventually have walked every mile of the trail.  That doesn't seem too difficult does it?  We've hit probably got about 8 or 9 down over the last 3 weekends.

The trail makes for a nice Saturday afternoon diversion.  Some of the caches are right on the trail and others have had us out bushwacking and exploring side trails.  Yesterday we met our friend JoAnn and took out a 3.75 mile section of the trail (and back) and grabbed a few caches out near Robinson.  Here are a few of my photos of the 'pretties' I saw during my death march.  I hit magical number 150 during this trip, although that was a silly little micro that was in the mall instead of out in the woods.

There was also a less than pretty along the trail...

ETA:  biking, running, and other random forms of personal transportation count too :)

Pirates-Red Sox

PNC really is one of America's prettiest ball parks. Too bad the buccos didn't sweep the sox...

Pupster Update

They're still hanging around despite the summer heat

FURRIES!

The Furries came to town last weekend.  They certainly are an *interesting* group.  The convention center is a block and a half from my office, so we had some good lunch time viewing!!!  You see everything from tails and ears to full on fursuits.   Obviously, fursuits are the best!!

Kennywood!!!

We went to Kennywood for my office's Corps Day a few weeks ago.  Here are a few of the fun pics!  For those who aren't from here, Kennywood is the local amusement park.  Its little, cute, historical, and I love it!  Plus, I always love getting a day off!!

Lining up for the Corps Boat race...

Somehow we pulled in 3rd..  not to shabby considering the odds we were up against

We lost track of how many times we went on the Thunderbolt!

Roller Coasters are fun!
Braddock L& D is just around the corner :)
Going home is so sad :(....  We'll be back next year though!
