Canoe Fun

The river was super pretty and not too rough for the most part.

Canoeing started out innocently enough...

Then someone said something he shouldn't have...

No canoes were tipped during this trip despite a few near misses.  We did wind up grounded sideways, but some engineering feats were performed and we were able to pull the canoe out and right ourselves. Thanks to Erica for sharing her great pictures with us!

DMB

Saturday night David and I caught the Dave Matthews Band show at PNC Park.  Excellent tickets on the field, until some drunk frat boys got up in our space midway through the show.  At least no one threw up on my feet, which is what happened to the people standing next to us.    Good Times... brought back some memories of Dave shows from the good old days.

4th of July

We caught fireworks on both Saturday and Sunday nights.  Saturday in Cannonsburg and Sunday night downtown.  The downtown show was a win -- I was pretty impressed and I'm known to be a critic, thank you Fox Lake.  We watched from the West End bridge, just upstream of the Point where they were shooting the fireworks off.

Saturday in the Strip

We hit the Strip District this weekend for a day of fun.  Its a district full of ethnic groceries, restaurants, bars, boutiquey shops, and fun stuff!  It reminded me of a mini Pike's Place, which we all know was my favorite part of Seattle!

Meats and Cheeses galore!!! Yummy Italian Grocery!!

Who doesn't need a 5 kg vat of nutella???

Parking it up

The JG's hit South Park again yesterday.  They definitely enjoyed it more this time.  The weather was great for a change.  They are starting to get that they are supposed to run and play at the park.  They are taking baby steps towards not spending their entire time within 10 ft of me.  We definitely tired them out.  This is probably my favorite dog park so far -- It is bigger and there always seem to be a lot of dogs there.

Game time

New city.. new hobbies.  Kickball league.  Its an old school throwback to the days at Stanton.  Except, I choose to believe I'm slightly more athletically inclined than I was in 8th grade and would be picked 2nd to last instead of dead last if we were picking teams tomorrow. Demographics say our team won't take the championship, but its fun and that is all that really matters.  Plus, how awesome is it that our shirts are Illinois Orange!!
